Alta Vista Urban Sanctuary

Designed and constructed in the heart of Greenville’s revered Alta Vista neighborhood, this Urban Sanctuary unfolds with arched openings, custom doors with custom frames, a grand Palladian window that floods the main floor with light, and a groin vault ceiling with rounded walls near the entryway, ideal for displaying artwork.

The custom cabinets in the kitchen were handcrafted by Gabriel Builders’ in-house cabinetry shop to offer maximum storage while projecting the appearance of vintage furniture, complete with details like cremone bolts to complete the look. The great room ceiling is accented by 200-year-old beams from a Pennsylvania barn.

Off the kitchen, in the Mediterranean-style dining area, a herringbone patterned hardwood floor complements the room’s elegantly sculpted entry and statement light fixture. The adjacent porch has a fireplace and retractable screens, with French doors that when open, create a large indoor-outdoor space, between the porch and great room, for entertaining.

Upstairs is an exercise room with an infrared sauna. The room has a full bath, so it is designed to transition as an additional bedroom when needed. A classically-styled guest room nearby offers intimate views of the sprawling live oak tree that dominates the home’s landscape.

The gracious guest bunkroom includes two queens and two single beds, complete with built-in lighting and shelving, allowing plenty of storage and recreational space. A custom built-in slide gives young guests another option for navigating from top bunk to safe landing.

Above the three-car garage is a full apartment with a kitchen, living area, and its own private entrance, designed to allow easy access for extended family members.

A traditional home featuring 5,000-square-feet of flexible living space, the Urban Sanctuary is flanked by layered landscaping and stucco garden walls, with graceful wrought iron gates and potted arrangements to offer a memorable welcome.
