Nido de Pájaro Azul
A step back in time with modern accents, this Old-World style home captures the luxurious essence of a vintage era. The house is set on a classic stone driveway, immediately giving one the feeling of being in an elegant, foregone time. Wavy-edged hemlock siding characterizes the home's exterior, setting it perfectly in the mountain vistas of this house's settings.
At the entryway, a monumental 12-foot archtop steel door with limestone accents greets you. As you enter the foyer, your eyes go up to the cupola tower, giving the home a grandiose first impression. A magnificent grand piano then takes center stage and is flanked by a sophisticated modern staircase. Past the foyer, the Great Room takes focus with its stately stone fireplace and incredible views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Throughout the great room and the rest of the home, the beams feature clean, painted details that add to the home’s luxurious feel.
The beautiful and functional kitchen and dining room area with a gorgeous custom butler’s pantry round out the central area of the first floor. Outside the dining room is the back porch overlooking the stunning landscape of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The porch features timber beams that were hand-selected and crafted specially for this home.
As you move downstairs, the rec room features a library with curved walls made by soaking and bending the drywall in a perfect curvature. It is a stunning display as you enter the room. The homeowners are voracious readers, and the curved walls frame their immense book collection.
Each of the bedrooms and bathrooms, the third-story office, the great room, and the rec room share the view of the stunning mountain vistas behind the home. These rooms are arranged on either side of the foyer, great room, and rec room, creating a symmetrical layout.
The downstairs rec room is flanked on either side by the guest rooms and bathrooms, which exit the home into a meticulously landscaped yard with a modern pool, firepit, and outdoor living area. This creates the perfect environment for homeowners to enjoy stunning views of the Upstate South Carolina mountains.
Nido de Pájaro Azul (Blue Bird Nest) is a serene retreat that captures the beauty of nature and the spirit of tranquility. Nestled in a peaceful location, this home is a harmonious blend of modern comfort and natural elegance. As the house took shape, the land itself seemed to embrace its future inhabitants—three pairs of blue birds made their homes here. As the contractors worked, they carefully relocated the birds’ nests to nearby trees, ensuring that these beautiful creatures remained safe and close to the place they had chosen.
In honor of the blue birds who nested here and the owner’s deep affection for them, the home was named Nido de Pájaro Azul—a fitting tribute to the harmony between nature and the dwelling that now calls this place home. Today, many blue birds continue to call this area their sanctuary, making this home a true haven for both its human residents and its feathered friends.
